Tell us about your career journey so far 

After university, I worked a few jobs from online delivery driver to HR assistant and research assistant in the London area. But deciding the city wasn’t for me chose to move to Bristol. I Joined Cogito back in 2019 and since then have gone from Graduate Sourcer to Talent Acquisition Specialist. I was only with Cogito for a few months until covid and during that time Marc (Managing Director) kept in contact with me over furlough to make sure I was all ok and that there would be a smooth transition when we came back to work. Since then I’ve been involved in a variety of different projects from Crematorium assistant to Head of Satellite operations for Low Earth orbit.

What does a typical day look like? 

I start to work slightly early to check what calls and with who I’ll be talking to that day and check my emails for anything new that has dropped in. Sometimes we have a team meeting in the morning and get to hear what others are working on and are able to ask for help if I need it. Then It’s down to calling candidates to talk about roles they’ve applied to or sending messages out to potentials to gauge interest and recording their notes on our form.

What do you enjoy about the role? 

I enjoy speaking to people about what they are looking for and seeing if they are right for what I have got available. Most people are generally happy to speak to you and interested in finding something that would really suit them. Finding a good candidate for a hard role is very rewarding as you know you’ve helped out both the company and the person looking.

What does it feel like to work at Cogito? 

It feels very welcoming and relaxed, everyone gets on well and unlike in other recruitment businesses, there isn’t the constant pressure of targets and monitoring time on the phone. Even so, everyone works very hard and helps each other when they can.
