Award in Mental Health First Aid (FAA Level 3)
This Level 3 course builds on the Cogito mental health awareness workshops and covers various mental health conditions. We explore the range of therapy and expert support that professional bodies may give a person during treatment for a mental health condition.
This qualification will give you the knowledge to recognise a wide range of mental health conditions and to learn about support and therapy accessible by professional healthcare providers. You will know how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help.
The course includes recognising and managing stress and understanding the impact of substance abuse. You will also learn about the first aid action plan for mental health and put it into practice to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
The course is suitable for all employees within a workplace and aimed at those who hold a supervisory/managerial level position and ideal for those responsible for implementing a positive mental health culture.
This course runs over 12 hours spread over two consecutive days.
Upon completing the qualification assessment, learners will be awarded the Ofqual regulated Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF)/Award in Leading First Aid in Mental Health at SCQF Level 6. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the entire course again to requalify for three years.
Summative practical assessment is ongoing by our Nuco-approved instructor, along with a written assessment on each day. A Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.
